Re: Across Lake Ray

Hi Jess,

Very easy to find this place. I don't know what side of town you live on, but I'm sure you're familiar with 9A. From the south side (the Town Center/UNF for instance) take 9A north to the Monument Road exit. go Eastbound on Monument Road about 2/10 of a mile (if that) and on your right will be a medical imaging center and on your left will be a small two-lane road (Millcoe Road). Turn left on Millcoe Road, and the entrance to the Arboretum will be on your right just before the road bends to the left.

See you out there some time.

Randy

It's more of a natural place currently and not the manicured gardens you might picture. This is a scene a across the lake there, and it's one I've painted a few times before. From this view, the trees on the left side are in shadow and the right is catching the sun. I like painting this view this time of year because the dormant trees have a bark that turns almost white, and the underbrush is thinner so the hill behind the trees is visibly easier to see. I need to touch up some spots and reconcile the reflections in the water with the trees a little better. But a few minutes touch up should be enough on this one.

9x12" oil on panel. C&C welcomed and thanks for looking!

Randy

Randy,
Very nice painting. I like to paint water and you really captured it!

Re: Across Lake Ray

Very good, hard subject but tones, colour and the mix of brush strokes are just right.
