Probably not better ideas, just some alternatives. -- There is a white graphite paper made for transferring to dark surfaces. There is also dress makers chalk - I like to use white or light soft pastels sticks to go over the lines with, gives the same results you get. Quilters pencils also work quite well, they come in white, silver, blue and magenta. Pastel pencils, rather than the soft pastel sticks, would do the same thing and come in the usual artist color range. Plain old white chalk will work if one is careful to shake off excess dust before doing the transfer. The beauty of using pastels or chalk is that they are easily removed with a damp cloth if one wants to make changes.
