Paint Together --- All Welcome

Hi everyone

Firstly thankyou for the great response to this "paint together" thread .

The purpose of this thread is simple , one ref , all media , all levels , all welcome ,no time limit . I think watching other artists create the same painting as yourself provides valuable info to improving their own or visa versa , it would be good if all artists could explain their process , and most of all their concerns . It need not turn into a tech heavy thread so say and discuss anything you wish within reason of course, but most of all I want everybody to come away with a painting they love and hopefully a tip or two or have given some valuable insight along the way.

We have a great ref provided by Kevin our mod so cheers Kevin and hope he will be joining us with the painting and providing info also our guides Nancy and Bethany will be on hand to draw experience from , both excellent artists I may add so let's get on with it

Have fun !!!!!!

Ar a guess, Mimi, Soviet Socialist Republic? That would make it pretty old, but he's still an expressive model with good shading.

Thanks for doing this. It may take a while but I will get to him. Thanks Kevin for the reference. Jen The SSR is probably the name of the railroad company.

Off to a flying start jean , looks like him to me , how detailed are you gonna go with this , be carefull you dont overdo the blues use more of the colours you have on the forehead then decide to cool areas off later on

Re: Paint Together --- All Welcome

Just a little more on detailing, I think... I'll watch the blues as you suggest.
His "5 o'clock shadow" appears more blue-ish to me in the photo, but I'll add some browns into the mix - maybe that will help. Thanks!

Trevor, you got him! but I think a bit more contrast in the face would improve it. PS what is interactive acrylic?

Re: Paint Together --- All Welcome

Jean, your pastel is looking great. If I might offer a suggestion, look at the size of of the left iris, to me it looks like the bottom of it comes too far down. I'm a novice at portraiture so take it with a grain of salt, okay.

Trevor, I'm liking your portrait with those skin tones and brighter blues.

BLimey, quick off the mark here, Trevor and Jean, looking good so far!!

So far I have sanded off and painted over an old disaster to use the canvas, so greatly advanced, not!
