Another portrait of the same landscape painter by the same portrait artist:

Big hint: They're Russian.

Re: Name that Portrait! December 2005

What a fantastic choice Molly. I really have to chase up more of his paintings. I love them!
Well done Osama, you little ferret you.
Gilberte, you are lucky to have any hair. Mine turned grey a long time ago. NOW IT IS ALL PULLED OUT!
Now we are all in for some trouble. That little exercise gave Osama even more examples to trick us with.
Hmmm. I think I's take a few days off and go visit my grandkids.
Regards
Graham

Re: Name that Portrait! December 2005

Molly: those were wonderful portraits!
Graham:weŽll be waiting for you with a lot of new portraits!
Gilberte: I think I beat you by a nose, you were almost there; I was just lucky, I stumbled on the second portrait on my first search for the russians!
OK, this one is also one of my favorites, and is not very far away from the preceding (your previous searches were not in vain... ) Notice the effect of the sun through the leaves, awesome!
Regards,
O.

bluewindfisher and I have linked up to form an international team. We both say that's Valentin Serov's "Girl Illuminated by the Sun." (1888) It's at the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

OK blue, beam us up another one.

Ivan Nikolaevich Kramskoy is a fantastic artist! I love that second portrait of his that you posted, Molly.

Osmar, thanks for the clue on this one! I:m going to search it down now.

Ah, you beat me to it Lawrence! Can't wait to see the next one!

Re: Name that Portrait! December 2005

YouŽre right Gilberte , I only remembered that after I had posted it. But anyway, I was expecting someone to solve it very quickly. Lawrence certainly did not even see my glitch, heŽs an expert on paintings from the Tretyakov gallery! And it was worth it, to share with you my admiration for that beauty!

O.

Greetings,
O.

Ok Guys,
Here comes the spano/aussie combination.
Just talk among yourselves while we sort it out.
And tremble a little!
