Re: Show us your self portrait!

Thanks, Janet, yes this is oil pastel.

Great close up - shows off that beautiful color. This seems like a departure from your usual style. Do you think you will do any more like this?

Thanks Eileen-

Wow, I really like yours and Janets self portraits! The intensity of your gaze is amazing!

Janet- I have never been a big fan of "modern" paintings, but your use of color really GRABS me!!!!!

All the portraits here are great

Believe it or not, I have always been attracted to this style but just been "afraid" of what people might think. But I am breaking some rules (my own) and want to incorporate both. This way, when someone wants a portrait, they just have one more style option to choose from. Works for me. So, you definitely will see more of this. Thanks.

Jody - Thank you very much.

Re: Show us your self portrait!

Hello everyone! Really nice self-portraits here, so I thougth I'd throw in something of my own. The first one was made maybe a week ago (and I've already posted here in the portraiture forum), the others were a series, made maybe a year ago, they are untill yet unposted. All of them are acrylics on paper.

Jet this is good. The important thing is to capture your essence.

Re: Show us your self portrait!

Hiperion- My Goodness, those are some wild self portraits, they remind me of a Japanese graphic art style that I have seen, especially the eyes!

I have just finished one of the paintings I was working on, so I now have an open easel so to speak, I was going to start on a portrait of a little girl (commision piece) but I guess I can work on three paintings at once, I have done it before. I am not sure about the mirror though I don't know if I want a self portrait of me with a furrowed brow and squinting eyes (my usual intense look as I stare at myself in a mirror)

Have a good night all,
Jodi

10 minutes in front of a mirror I must admit it is just a little bit flattering Tom
