Re: The Portrait Gallery, August, 2005

A NOTE... some of my paintings were painted prior to knowledge of any issues regarding the possible copyright infringment here at WC. In good faith I painted this with permission from the poster in the WC Reference Libraray. I have since found that some are posted on another site by different photographers. I am preparing to destroy this canvas as I am uncertain if I have permission to use it now. My appologies to any and all parties involved.

Krysta, please don't destroy your Portrait, as it is brilliant. You can put it on your own wall in your own home -- just as long as it doesn't leave your home where it can be viewed by the Public, and of course, it can't be on a Website either. You can keep it strictly for your own personal use -- that is OK.

Val.

This is very true, Krysta. Please do not destroy your work! Your artwork is amazing! Consider it good practice, never intended to be sold, and it is fine. You aren't breaking any rules by doing just as Val said. Hang them on your walls so you and your family can enjoy the paintings. You still did hard work on them, and learned so much while doing them. I don't know about you, but every painting I paint I always learn something new.

Please don't destroy your work. Let it beautify your home rather than rot in a landfill or smolder in a fire. That would be such a waste of wonderful, hardearned practise and work. The only thing you can't do is sell the work or display it on your website.

It is like painting replicas of Master's work. so many artists do it to learn the techniques that artist long before them used. They just can't sell it as their own work. As long as they specify that it is a replica of so-and-so's original work, then they are fine.
