Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter Name that Painting! *** July 2005

Can you identify this painting with title and artist?

Here's another easy one to start with .

The winner of this will be congratulated, and will have the honor of posting the next mystery painting (portraits only, please). If you are sure of your answer, feel free to post the next painting right away.

Good luck!

P.S. Figurative portraits are allowed and welcomed in this thread!

Edward Hopper, self portrait, 1925.

I'll try to find a goodie asap and post.

Thanks, Eileen, for always coming up with new and good ideas at Portraits.

Not having a scanner is quite a challenge, in and of itself, but here's one I could cut and paste

Hmm, I don't know this one, but I will hazard a guess on the date range, judging from the costume. Late 1700's? Am I anywhere close???

Well, that was actually my first guess. But then I looked at this site and got confused:

Thanks for the clue!

I can see how you got confused. But think clothing adaptation and/or old-fashioned.

I'm off to the art supply store. If you get it or someone else does give yourself a tag. I'll be gone several hours.

It is hot, hot, hot and I'll be walking, subwaying slowly!

Okay, back from the art wars (store); broke but thrilled with my new purchases.

Here's a hint: female.

Why, thank you!

*takes a bow*

OK........who's this, who's it by & extra bonus points if you can guess why, on this weekend in particular, I have chosen this as my subject.
