WOW, this is looking great Al. Love the way you have the wrinkles in his face, and also his eyes. Will be watching for your next update with great interest.

Hi all,

Here's my third portrait. I'm just "getting into it". It's oil on canvasboard.

Hi Bob,

This is a beautiful painting -- I love the way you have painted the little girl -- she is gorgeous. The only thing you may have to be careful of is using Disney characters in your painting, as they are copyrighted and not allowed to be copied.
It would still be a wonderful Portrait even if you cropped Mickey out of it.

Hmmm... good point. Would this still hold true if the cartoon character and the palms behind her were an "editorial comment"? She's mi niece, and now grown-up. She turned out to be quite rebelious of the "status quo", thus the slightly sour look on her face as she regects the California lifestyle.

Anyway, if I get sued there's not much they can take from me and it wasn't a commercial product. It's a present for her.

Thanks for the advice though. I will keep it in mind.

... and thanks for the compliments.

Bob

Re: The Portrait Gallery, July, 2005

Was able to get alittle more done last night. Getting out of the ugly stage by working in some darks and the addition of the head dress. I guess I'm kinda playing this one by ear and designing as I go. Anyway, here's an update.

Peace,
AL

Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just taking a peek in here, and thought I could through this in the lot.
I worked on it about a month ago. I like to do these every year or so to measure where I am at.
I called it "summer" because it was so hot that week.
It's a self. 36 inches by 60 inches. acrilique on canvas.(with a couple of old paintings underneath.....cursed canvase lol )
I have alsready posted it in the oc, and i think I will start doing more portraits.
I did one of my cousin this month when I was painting in bc. I will post it later, I find it spooky.
I don't think she likes it.......but I dont think I am finished with it.
any how, this one is done (exept perhaps the lips, i think the go out past my nose, but my boyfriend said it doesn't when I pout.......lol)
Nice forum
Valerie

Re: The Portrait Gallery, July, 2005

Hello again, finally I decided I can't leave this painting at this stage. Will keep it as a hobby so it will take some time to be completed. So many nice works are added since my last visit. I seem to be a bit too meticulous

Re: The Portrait Gallery, July, 2005

Hi everyone,

Well this isn’t a new painting so I hope you don’t mind me posting it here. It was done from a Nickelodeon magazine about 15 years or so ago and was the last airbrushed portrait I did. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for looking

Greg

Re: The Portrait Gallery, July, 2005

Thank you very much Val. Sorry to be posting older work but that is all I have right now, I just haven't had the time to do anything new lately but hope to over the winter months.
Thanks again,
Greg

Re: The Portrait Gallery, July, 2005

Oh my goodness Linda, this Portrait of your parents is outstanding -- you have captured their likeness beautifully. Have they seen it yet? When they do, they are going to love it so much. The only thing I can say about your mother's hand is that I think the fingers could possibly be too long for a ladies hand. Eyeballing the length of the fingers from the photo and then your Portrait, makes them look as though they do come down a bit far over your Dad's shoulder. Other than that I can't find anything whatsovever to critique. Fantastic work.
