Oh, Linda. I am so sorry. When I saw your name listed in this thread, I was delighted because I haven't seen you around in a while. My thoughts go out to you. This must be a very difficult time. I hope that getting back to your easel can bring you some solace.

I'm glad to see you are back with us, and would love to see any new work you may have.

Bert, what a delightful portrait! She must have been so thrilled with her catch! I especially like the way you detailed her sweater.

Hello Linda. It is lovely to meet you. I am so sorry to hear of the traumatic time you have been through this year -- it does take its toll, there's no doubt about that, but I am glad to hear you have set your easel up again, and look forward to seeing some new paintings in the forum soon.
Once again, welcome back

Val.

Val and Eileenclare
Thanks for your encouraging comments - this is the biggest watercolour I have attempted - unfortunately to get it down to an acceptable size for uploading I had to reduce the format and lost quite a bit of the detail - the actual face is about 75% of life size.
Bert.

Re: The Portrait Gallery, July, 2005

You are very welcome Bert, as it is a lovely Portrait. I understand that it can be disappointing having to compact a painting so much for uploading, but at least we get to see it, which is much better than not at all. Congratulations on tackling your biggest painting yet -- it sounds WONDERFUL. I bet your daughter loves it.
I hope we see more of your wonderful work again very soon.

Val.

Hi Linda. Someone from BC, that's great.

I'm new here, although about the same age as you are. Lovely website you have. To think you have been into art from an early age while I am just a beginner. Hope to see more of your art here and I'll try to get something to show also. But mine are just in pencil and really look like a beginner's efforts.

I had some very good advice in the Oil Painting forum on this portrait of my daughter-in-law Elena.
Oil, 30 X 24 in

And this is another daughter-in-law, Marion.
16 X 12 in

C&C welcome.

Tom

Hi Tom,

Your two paintings are really great. I especially love the second one -- you have captured so much personality in that one and everything in the painting is so beautifully rendered. The first one is also very nicely rendered.

Hi, Val. I am still working on Faith. I haven't touched her in a while. I am putting a link to the Faith WIP post, so you can see the ups and downs.
It's a bit different from the people who actually know what they are doing. Input would be good. Thanks.

You sure look like you know what you are doing!

Tom, your portraits of your daughters-in-law are quite lovely. Welcome here, and thank you for showing these.

I just discovered a site that lets you show up to 12 of your paintings - for free! It's in a link under my signature. While I was loading the images there, I came across a portrait I did in graphite that I have never shown in this forum. So here it is: Lizzie, in graphite:

Hi Andagail,

I just love everything about your Portrait. Faith is looking gorgeous, and you have made a wonderful job of her. I love her eyes, and her beautiful smile, but the entire Portrait is beautiful. I am so glad you have done this as a WIP, as it has been so interesting being able to follow it through.

I hope we will see many more of your Portraits.

Val.

Eileen, what a gorgeous Portrait of a sweet baby. The eyes especially are beautiful, and a cute smile. It looks like the site you found is great.

Thanks so much for posting this one Eileen.

Re: The Portrait Gallery, July, 2005

Every one is doing superb job.
Here is mine. This is another portrait of my brother Harris. Its a WIP. In this one he is just 5 or 6 months old. I found this some days ago and decided to give it a go. And I call it "Mother's Delight". Medium = Digital, Corel Painter 9, Artistic Oil tool.

My WC uploader is not working again, so I uploaded it in Geocities account. In larger form.

Here is the reference photo.

Francisco, this is outstanding. I love the light, and you have rendered it so well. The entire Portrait is just superb.
