ANDA -- Your little Faith is coming along really well. She is such a happy little girl -- you have captured that beautifully.

MARIA -- Your little girl looks great, and you have captured the likeness really well. She is such a pretty little girl, and you have that showing in your Portrait. Thanks for posting in the Gallery.

Maria, that background works. How do you know which background to put in? Warm skin/cool background? Can you preview and test that in the image software? That would be helpful, I think. For me, I mean.

Portrait of Donna and Cookie

I finished this a couple of weeks ago but had forgotten to post. I did this from a photo taken by Donna's brother.

Thanks for your kind comments.

Oh, it is hard/soft pastels on Wallis paper, approx. 12" x 14" or thereabouts.

Mark, it doesn't matter which way you paint this guy, all of the likenesses are spot on with each other. A really interesting way to go.

I covered the green and purple. I fixed the eye. I left the nose alone.

WOO-HOO Anda, little Faith is looking great. I just love her dimples, and her teeth are beautifully done, something many artists struggle with. She is the sweetest, happiest little girl -- does my heart good to look at her.

Re: The Portrait Gallery, May 2005

This is Loretta. She is posing for my portrait class (of which I have one student-my first).

She's is so sweet she is trading her services for this portrait.
Oil on canvas. This is the first time I've done the layering over a sepia underpainting using liquin glazes as I build. I really like the effect. She's not quite finished yet.

Comments welcome.

Oh, and thank you for all the kind comments on the portrait of Tracy.

Are we supposed to be posting in a June thread now?
Dianne

Re: The Portrait Gallery, June, 2005

raeburn, I like the light in your sketch...

cbrooks, great portrait!

Mike Beeman, that's lovely!!

Mark, I agree with Eileen, the study has your brush! I like it, realist or not! The second study (just the portrait), I like it better. The computer version is great also.

Eileen, waiting to see your work on this one...

I like you fairy, Anda..

Simon, great study!! The baby is already lovely done.

Lacey, going to check out the figure forum...

Deepat: wow! great work on the month portraits... The little girl has my preference. It seems more affirmed then the old guy.

parviz, the first is such an intimate portrait... The second one is better I think, these lines and her face make a great contrast!

yoyita, wow!!!! Is this an historic person from your country?

legand, great job, he looks warmly at us, like a true heroe!

Donald, it's fascinating to watch you work! I love the finished piece...

Me, I have done another portrait, still not happy with the hair, never happy with the hair, but maybe it's my own way (style?) that's imposing itself on me, LOL....

TERRY, I don't know how I missed your Portrait of Donna. It is beautiful. You have captured a very happy young lady with her cute little Boston Terrier (it is a Boston Terrier, isn't it??). Very nicely rendered.

Re: The Portrait Gallery, June 2005

DIANNE -- Your Portrait is lovely. You have captured a really good likeness, and I love the way you have painted the dress -- beautiful.

ANNE-CLAIRE -- I think your Portrait is also lovely. You have shown a very sensitive side of the young man, and I like his hair too -- it is quite like many young people wear their hair. Thankyou for posting.
