Just wanted to say wow at the portraits already. You guys are doing fantastic. lisilk...........great job girl!! Good to see you here in the oils forum doing something with us. Nice break from all those postcards, huh? LOL

Tina

Thanks Tina. My goal in joining this group was to step out of my comfort zone. Portraits in oil is about as far out of it as I can get ! And yes, I was getting pretty tired of working so small in the PC project, as enjoyable as it has been. Thanks for the welcome. I hope to do more projects in this forum in the future....in spite of my oil skills. LOL.

Its great seeing others paintings of this. Did you all have trouble with the mouth as I am having? Loop is right, its a real pain!

I'm glad you posted, pinkrybns! You are so lucky to have seen this in person, as well as other Vermeer paintings! I can only imagine the impact of seeing them in real life!

Hi Peaceful, welcome to the oils forum. Beautiful job on your first. Remarkable !!!

You can use the uploader to load your pictures in the project thread (link is on the first page of this thread) Watch your image size, should be around 400 x 400 pixels (that's safe anyway) and below 200K large, so you may have to resize it Hope that helps you

Bev.............I think hair is hard You think lips At least I don't have hair in this one right? LOL

Tina, I tend to agree with Bev on lips, they give me the most trouble...but glad you won't have hair so you can give us lip lessons!! LOL

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and nice comments.
I work in mainly watercolors and pastels.
I too found the mouth the hardest part, especially the teeth.
It is very interesting to see all the versions of this wonderful painting.
Great project!!
Glad to be here.

Have a look at this in the watercolour forum
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/show...hreadid=111881

There seems to be enough interest to open it up to other mediums. Hope you oil painters don't mind.
