I would soften or change the colour of the front fold- is it a blanket? It is distracting from the figures.
The painting is beautiful, Mary!

Nice feeling here! You might add some subtle warmth to the flesh tones- pinks, etc., and soften about the woman's chin.

I like it the way it is. It looks like watercolor.

Re: woman with grandson, cc welcome

Hi Mary,
The main thing that I find distracting is the lighting on the image of the watercolour - and not the painting itself.
The light is softly shining down the image [which is good] but it over-emphasizes the paper texture. If your photo set up allows, try a clean white bounce card out of the photo but angled to bounce light back onto the watercolour from the bottom. This card could be a clean piece of watercolour paper.
This will effectively [Open the shadows]. and reduce the watercolour paper texture.
Don't overdo and totally remove the texture. I like the texture, but I would dial it back a bit.

Overall I like the painting.

Better!
It is also brighter, warmer [less cold] and softer. Grandma looks younger, and loving instead of slightly severe.

How are you capturing [copying] your watercolours? The only thing that could be improved is a camera profile and perhaps white balance. I can help you with that if you wish.
