crafters insurance question

I'm looking into insurance to cover me in case at a show a storm blows away my tent (and lands it on someone) or in case someone trips and hurts themself in my booth. So far the quotes I've gotten have been $500 annual. Does anyone else out there have insurance? Is this what you pay?

I'm doing the same thing. I've got a company that starts at $150 annually, another artist friend reccomended them. Let me get the paperwork together and I'll post it shortly. The company name is RLI I believe.

They're based out of Peoria, Illinois but offer policies all over the place

That'll give you the offices in Mechanicsville, NY

I think the company that carries RLI there is John Carriearo (sp?). The phone number will get you to who you need to talk to though. Base rate starts at $150.


I also called my Allstate rep and he refered me to another local person in my area that seems to be offering me a competitive rate to RLI. Honestly, I'm thinking of going with the local guy because I know I can make an appointment to sit down and talk to him in person. Insurance, taxes, etc. all make me VERY nervous, I always feel like a fish out of water. I can talk about many other things intelligently but as soon as you bring these up I'm toast.

Try to call different companies. Also it's important to know what your insurance includes. Many insurance companies don't include material goods etc. I like actinsprobut there are many others just search on the web, like RLI, fractured atlas, try search on www.artisthelpnetwork.com etc. Also try to talk to your homeowner’s insurance agent.
