Girault set

hey, there is a nice discount in Belgium on Girault pastels and I am thinking of buying a set of 50. Never used Girault before, I have a set of Blockx landscape set of 72. What would your suggest ? The blues and purples set of 50 or the dark set of maybe just a few extra good darks to the bl&p set ?

Re: Girault set

Hi Wendy,

I should state that I haven't used the Blockx brand as yet, but I have used Giraults and they're very good pastels. Given that you already have the Blockx landscape set, I'd be tempted to purchase the set of Girault darks. I find that having a rich set of darks is a must.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

John

Re: Girault set

I'm not familiar with the Blockx either, but I have a set of Girault landscape pastels (the Michael Chesley Johnson set), as well as several of the dark browns and greens; I would also recommend getting the dark set (I especially like the Giraults for adding branches, grasses, etc. in to a landscape)

I have the grey set and use them quite a bit. Great sticks, you'll like them.
