Love the reds in Desert Sunshine! The untitled trees are excellent. The greenery looks like brushwork: very clever. I like that sumdgey effect also: it really captures the light.

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Thanks Bizzibee- you are correct - the green is brush work. I took a $2 Home Depot brush, chopped, razor shaved and mutilated the bristles and created what I call " my ground cover brush", I also use it for leaves.

Yep, old beat up brushes are good for foliage and such. You paint faster than I get by to comment. Always puts a smile on my face to stop in here.

Intertwined - 24x18, heavy linen paper - 225lb, Chroma Interactive acrylics applied quickly with palette knife and some brush work in a loose expressionistic style with semi abstract passages.

Intertwined may be my new favorite! Wow, I love how it's just bursting with life and color. The strong shadows add a lot too. Wonderful painting!

Intertwined: Wow Richard! This is just awesome! The light, shadows, texture, color - so incredibly beautiful! I added this to my favorites. I have so many of your paintings that I have added to my favorites, I had to create a new directory just for them and named it FabulousRichardPaintings

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Thanks Jenna - this is what I call a " fun time painting " - it fits the loose style - I find too many people make painting a non-enjoyment time as everything must be perfect or its a failure! Sad, sad!

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Thanks CaliAnn! My wife has been teaching yoga for over 10 years now and only elephants with upward pointing trunks allowed! These are elephants I found for her, one of them came from an antique shop in Old Quebec City!

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Richard love those trees! You make wonderful colour choices in your abstract works!

What with you and your bargain brushes and CaliAnn with her lLandscape Challenge sponges, it just goes to show you don't need fancy equipment to produce great art!
