Ian, very relaxing, I like them. I had not heard of them before having not lived in the UK now for so many years..thanks.

John...that sounds like a memorable experience.

Mancini's other great television theme. Not as iconic as Peter Gunn, but still a treat, especially for those who enjoy the sound of a Hammond B3.

A great vocal and one of the greatest guitar self-accompaniments I have ever heard. The propulsive tapping isn't his foot-- he's actually tapping the soundboard with the index finger of his picking hand...

And from the one and only Bert Jansch...

This is one of my favorite acoustic guitar instrumentals ever...

An achingly beautiful song of love gone wrong (one of her specialties).

Over forty years later, still the original gold standard to which all neo-trad Irish bands aspire. Crank up the volume. Just when you think they can't possibly up the ante any further, they do it. These people knew how to kick out the jams, boy.

Another from the Bothies.

Before I got married I wore a black shawl
But since I got married I wore bugger all...

Marry me Triona!

I never caught them live, one of the great regrets of my life. But I did catch Triona solo at the Irish-American Social Club in Watertown, MA around 1985. The concert wasn't advertised and I only got in by invitation from an Irish American friend. I was the only person in the place who wasn't Irish.

On some numbers she played her clavinet (the electric harpsichord-like instrument played by Stevie Wonder on tunes like Superstition). On others it was just the vocal, like this. She didn't sing a word of English all night, just Gaelic. Didn't matter to me. Very intense. Mesmerizing.

Lalo Schifrin.

Here is a collection of tunes of his most of you may recognize, if his name isn't immediately familiar.

Re: What are you listening to . . . (reprise)

The Babylon Berlin playlist on Spotify; some rather interesting music and good for the paintings I'm working on....I'm quite enjoying the show as well; for TV, it's pretty well done.
Cheers;
Chris
