Wink "burnishing" and to post

I have a dual purpose for posting here. I want to see a colored pencil forum on WetCanvas, but am new enough to the whole scene that I haven't posted 50 messages yet and, thus, cannot vote. So, I'll just post something here and not only add to my total, but also encourage the colored pencil lovers here! Keep up the great work! It's beautiful!

Has anyone done any photorealism with a burnishing technique with cp's? I'm interested in it, but haven't seen it done much. Also, if anyone knows of an artist online that does that sort of work, I'd love to be pointed to that website.

Thanks, and let's see even more cp work!

TeAnne, I posted my bear in your project the other day, not sure if you knew...

Anyway, I went to the local art shop the other day and in the CP section he had a whole stand devoted to Prismacolour. Which was pretty exiting in my otherwise dull day. Anyway, it's good to know that they are infiltrating Down Under, finally. Maybe your art shop might get them in eventually, too.

HI Yogi, if you check out my works on the CP project page all of it is burnished. also Check out Gary Greens Link at CP Links

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/P...sql?proj_id=68

Also have a short list of books that you may want to check out. this list is by no means a complete list, but I think a good start for one.

"the Colored Pencil" Key Concepts for handling the Medium By Bet Borgeson

"Creating Textures in Colored Pencil"By Gary Green

"Colored Pencil Solution Book"Tips and techniques BY Janie Gildow & Barbara Benedetti Newton

"Creative Colored Pencil" The step-by-step guid & showcase BY Vera Curnow

Hope this will be of some help sure others can add to this list of books.

Yes, Sherville I saw him and he looks great there too, I must be loosing it , I thought I had replied somewhere about him. Sorry if I didn't. As for the cp's hey that is good news, did you try any yet? I imagine it will take another two years for the West to get them. What kind of price has your artshop tacked onto them?.........................................Than ks for helping out Phil

Thumbs up Forget Me Not

Hi PhilC,

Thank you for the reference to Gary Greene's page. He did a fantastic job on the tomatoes, and that's exactly the technique to which I was referring. I'm not sure I've ever seen a "Splender Blender," as he described, but I'll look for one next time I go to the art store.

I also took a look at your work on the CP gallery here. I like "Forget Me Nots" especially. The leaves you created there are beautiful. I've never tried colored pencil on black paper, but probably will soon. I'm such a novice at this stuff. Do you use regular black construction paper or some special black paper that is sold in art stores? I get so nutty with my blending that I'm afraid I'll tear construction paper.

Anyway, thanks for the information.

Have fun!
