letter outline help

im working on a door sign for my grandsons bedroom door, (sounds odd i know) but hes really into the cartoon paw patrol and he wants the shows logo for his door.
my problem is the letters are outlined in yellow, then blue and i cant seem to get them even, (if thats the word)
my lines end up all differnt thickness and out of shape.
im working in acrylics on canvas board, but was thinking of changing to acrylics on paper and using masking fluid?
would this help?
any ideas anyone
