Its funny, I used to hate any type of graininess in cp, I would burnish any specks in the paper till my arm was sore as I couldnt stand it, lol! Now, it doesnt bother me any more and I acutally love the effect of this. I realise art is to be viewed from a bit of a distance and not stared at close up for any bits of support showing through - I have gotten over it

Thank you so much Lexy

I didn't use any color under the black paint, it's straight out of the tube and the varnish is what makes it look deeper and richer.

I layer in the local color during the underpainting so it'll be the one showing through instead of the white of the canvas. On paper, I use watercolor pencil (wet) to do this, I also hate seeing tiny specks of white in my work. Mixing colors on canvas is more optical than mechanical and yes you are right, art was never meant to be scrutinized under a microscope but to be viewed and enjoyed from a distance.

Thank you very much for all the comments everyone.

This is very impressive, just the sort of thing I would hang on my wall. I actually prefer crude art, or art done on surfaces other than paper.

Re: Grapears (CP on Canvas)

That's amazing. Plus I learned something: I had no idea you could CP on acrylic on canvas. Thanks.

NICE!!!!

I'm sure it's even more gorgeous in person, the camera does lose something.

I had a hard time taking a photo of this, I can't seem to get the right balance between the background and the subject without sacrificing one or the other. It's even better when varnished, the tones are much richer and deeper, unfortunately, it's even more difficult to capture with a camera.

Thanks Mary, and I love the Picasso quote on your sig line.

It's rather unconventional and takes a lot of getting used to, but I do like the result and I find it well suited for my style.

Thank you so much

I've tried several types of paper and it seems that I feel more comfortable working on textured surfaces. Canvas seems to be the best one I've used so far.

Interesting contrast between the rough surface and the smooth color transitions. For some reason I especially like the reflection on the bowl. More quality work from you, Bleuie!

Hmm, for some reason indeed, some folks like the reflection on the bowl. The colors on the ref image are quite subdued but I love vibrant colors so I pushed up the values and intensity. Hope the reflection is not too distracting?

I say go for it, it's fun to try something different once in a while.

Suzanne, Angela, and Dawnett, thank you so much for appreciating my work
