8X10 Oil on canvas.

I finally finished a painting!

When a painting takes as long as this one, fruit subjects don’t work

I found this jug and the metal bowl at a thrift store and the grapes are from memory

How does it look?

I only regret not drinking more champagne -

Looks great – but from the scale, the grapes look a little large.
Love your metal and the vase! The materials ready very well.

Those vessels look really good to me Bill.
Maybe call the grapes olives instead then the size works better

Charming. I agree the grapes are olives.

You sense of color / value is always wonderful.

FWIW you can use fresh fruit. Just replace when the spots and rot start, and continue painting. As long as you have the same general shape and size, the new one will match for shadows, values….

Being born places you at a greater risk of dying later in life.

The jug (vase) appears to have some unusual shapeliness to it to my eye, but wonderful color rendering keeps the impression of the curve of the shape well enough that it doesn’t draw too much attention. Really like that bright metal bowl a lot though, the sense of matte reflection on it is evident and feels good!

Delo- that jug is deceptively difficult to draw so yes, I probably could have spent more time on it.

I’ll be using it again, so I’ll have another chance.
