I like if possible to show a story with a still life.
The young girl on the left is my mother.
My mother towards the end of her life is on the right.
The rose bud and the full bloom.
The time showing 11.15 towards the end of the day.
        The clock ticking time away.
        The candle burnt down.
The light on the left going to darkness on the right.

        Suggestions and comments welcome.

This painting I did for a friend.
He has kept his father’s vineyard going as an expensive hobby.
He just can’t let it go.
The wine shown is produced from the vineyard.
His father is standing outside the building shown on the label.

Love the ideas behind the first composition, and nicely executed too. This, to me, is what still life should be about, something that tells some sort of a story about someone rather than just random items placed together.

Great stories on both these amazing art pieces! The first especially hits home as am having to go through my mother’s house for the last time this weekend and am not ready to do that.

Wonderful pieces! I also tend to paint narratives. I think they engage the viewer a bit more.

                    Thanks ALL for your comments.
Kay when you go through your mother’s things perhaps you will find a subject for a painting.
