Henry, Scotland has a pretty good tennis player that represented the UK. Even Americans were happy for him.

Hi Bill
Andy Murray did do well to win a gold medal, its not surprising that Americans supported him as around 35-40 million Americans claim Scottish ancestry, that is 8 times the population of Scotland!
Cheers
Henry

Good morning all
We have woken to the news that one of our mountains in the Central Plateau (Mt Tongariro) has erupted at around midnight, first time since 1897.
It is on red alert, although there have been no further eruptions since then.
Mt Tongariro erupts

Char, Valerie Adams got silver in the shotput, she threw three fouls, but was well beaten by Belarus.
Our athletes don't get great funding in comparison to wealthier countries, but we do pretty well regardless.

Sylvia, lovely photo!

Very tranquil scenes JJ.

Henry, not surprised a hotel wants your work.

Better go and make John's lunch before he heads out the door for the day

Wow Lulu, that's the volcano we could see across Lake Taupo. I saw that Lake Taupo itself is a huge caldera or sunken volcano.

Glad your Kiwi shotputter got a medal.

Yes Doug, Taupo is considered dormant rather than extinct, if it decided to erupt again we will all be extinct lol

Re: *** Daily Wash Monday 6th August 2012 ***

Hi all,

Got back about two hours ago from our trip. We had a good time...it just wasn't long enough. But the girls had things to do, Kaitlyn had cheer practice and drivers training and Kelsea had a birthday party to attend.

Now it's laundry and un-packing. We have to weed the garden and harvest any items that are ripe.

THANKS ALL for the wonderful recipes the past few days in the wash.

(((Doug))) hope your man-flu is getting some better for you.

SIPDERS??? I HATE them....and I think I've said it before...just like snakes...the only Good spider is a DEAD spider. Their bites can be very bad. And even though we have non-venomous kinds I still HATE them. Poor Jen is afraid of them really bad and she gets so many in her house. She recently had one that had babies and she had teeny tiny spiders all over her ceiling and walls. She also has had a Christmas Tree that had a next in it and the same thing happened to her and once to us.

The Olympics have been superb! What wonderful entertainment it's been to watch all those dedicated athletes. We've so enjoyed it.

(((Carolynn))) I'll be praying for good results of the tumors. Good luck with your surgery; my thoughts will be with you.

Lisa, your poor parents...I hope their bad luck ends soon. I'm glad your Dad is feeling much better after his procedure.

Cool about the "Curosity" and it's landing.

We got a text yesterday from my sister. Seems my Mom is on several medications and she was disoriented during the night and fell and hit her head. My sister was crying when I called her saying that she just dind't know what to do for her, because she was like a zoombie! Well I called my other sister and asked if she'd go over to Mom's also to help out my other sister. They took her to the doctor this morning and they took her off of the meds that they gave her in ER and upped her anti-depressant. Seems that she just doesn't want to even get out of bed everyday. I know she misses my Dad SO MUCH and after living with someone for 59 years it's hard; no one knows how you'll react until it happens to you. It just breaks my heart and I hate living 4 hours away.

Well, I'd best get my butt going here...still lots to do.

I have read all the washes and know you all are busy with your lives...I hope you'll be able to get creative in some way.

Back to work tomorrow for me.

Enjoy your day/evening/afternoon.

Oh Darla
my dear parents-in-law were married 65 years and when one died the other was just so devastatingly lonely.
Your mum (and all of you) will stay in my thoughts and prayers.

Darla ((for your Mom)))

Lulu, I'm sure if the volcano goes off you'll all smell just fine.

Henry and Geoff, My wife is of both Irish and Scottish descent. In fact, her Scot blood is McKay. I'm told that since I married a McKay, I am also a Mckay and nothing I can do will get me out of it. they were fierce warriors, I hear.

I also do not have any qualms about killing a spider, they can just stay outside!
Pool and hot tub stuff happening slooooooowwwwwly, Jack getting antsy, one annoyance, they think we do not have a natural gas BBQ and we do, they did not believe Jack when he said we did. Ok with me I'm not ready to use it anyway.

It's going to be a looooooonnnnngggg August.

Updated info says that the threat with Mt Tongariro has passed now, but will be closely monitored. The ski-fields remain open. I won't be venturing up there though lol
