Well. . . its official that today was my last day of work at my old job. I have retired from that and will now be moving on to exploring other options.

Opening day signup for Iditarod 2013
54 signed up so far first day!
I am practicing sketching people quickly and still getting somewhat of likeness.
Can anyone tell who this is?

Re: Rainy's Stillman & Birn Sketchbooks
I forgot to mention that was the last page in my Stillman & Birn Beta journal. The next journal I chose for working in now is a different brand so I'll start a new thread on the next sketch.
Thanks for all your input on these!! I love the S&B journals!

Since I don't follow the Iditaron, I can't say who that is. But congrats on finishing the S&B Beta. What are you going to use next?

Hi Rainy,
Just back from a three-week road trip through the northwest, and catching up on journals again. Nice work since I last popped in. I particularly like the fruit basket. Good luck with the next phase of your life after retiring from your old job!

Re: Rainy's Stillman & Birn Sketchbooks
Hi Rainy,
The first week of our trip was to a bluegrass music festival in Wenatchee, WA. Then we pulled our trailer first to Missoula, MT and then to Victor, ID. We were in Victor for 10 nights, the main purpose of that was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take a workshop with Scott Christensen, who is an amazing landscape painter. Then from Victor, we drove back through Idaho, then up I-84 to Baker City, OR and then cut across Oregon through John Day and Prineville, stayed near Redmond and drove home from there. The return trip was 3 days. In total, we drove about 2,000 miles. The weather was windy and dusty, but no precipitation and nice and warm (a couple days a bit too much so, but better that than rain and wind).

Rainy, congrats on your retirement. I'm envious. I wish I could retire too but I have another 16 more years to go.
Your last two sketches with colored background is really nice.

Re: Rainy's Stillman & Birn Sketchbooks
Hi Rainy, thread highjacking about to happen. John you lucky man you, Scott Christensen. That must have been incredible! My summer vacation was taking a portrait drawing workshop with Tony Ryder, so I've not turned a total shade of green! Rock on.
