What are you working on first quarter 2020

Looking forward to seeing what you are planning on painting, drawing, sculptoring etc. for the year ahead. Please state if you need any help. Perhaps you are struggling with a particular aspect of your work and need some feed back. Sometimes being an artist can be an isolated and lonely experience. I know I often need another pair of eyes and an honest opinion when I get 'too close' and involved in my paintings and drawings.

Hello, Chammi. I am working on the challenge. This is a part of it.

Looking forward to the 20th to see the other entries and to show the rest of mine.

Great minds think alike, Joy. The photo is rather close up but I couldn't get it clearer while zooming in. I look forward to your version! 👌

Re: What are you working on first quarter 2020

Thanks for starting the new thread Chammi.

I'm taking a different approach to art this year - quantity over quality - I took my art too seriously last year - I mean I didn't take time to just sit and have fun! and as a result I didn't really produce much. So this year I'm going to take all my art materials and use them all up and not worry what the end result is

I got a big art box for Christmas with lots of oil pastels in among other things so I'm looking forward to trying those out.

At the moment I'm halfway through my A&W challenge - I was happy with it until I added an eye and now my poor creature looks a bit furious (and of course it's in ink) which wasn't quite what I had in mind but I'm going with it.

Penny and Joy. Looking forward to seeing you Challenge paintings.

Kay. Good luck with your new approach and exciting Christmas box!

I am trying to do a sketch a day in my new sketch book. Not always animals but plenty of them. Cannot resist the gulls and sea birds here in Hermanus, South Africa. We have just arrived so am hoping to get stuck in tomorrow. Nothing like a new sketch book to get my creative juices flowing!!

Re: What are you working on first quarter 2020

Hi everyone

I’m working on putting a book together of my kitten cartoons.

This was this mornings, in response to a big fluffy monster who wanted to cuddle me .... at 5 am.

They are almost 8 months now and they moved in at 3 months, so there are a LOT of cartoons!

I also occasionally do more ‘serious ‘ portraits

Like this one of my daughters cat. This was from a photo

but the cartoons are just from memories like these ....

The ginger cat was coloured pencil in a large moleskine book

The cartoons are done on my iPad

Re: What are you working on first quarter 2020

Love the cartoons! Made me smile this lunchtime. And the ginger cat portrait is beautiful and golden.

I've managed to get a few things done this year. Enjoyed working on my A&W challenge picture in pastels so I may get them out again for the Plant Parade challenge, I have a free evening tonight.

This isn’t my usual style, but I had fun making this little thank you card for a friend who crocheted some beautiful blankets for my kids.

Great idea Vivien. Your cat illustrations are wonderful and I am sure will make a successful book. Good luck.

Re: What are you working on first quarter 2020

I'm working on these two lovely lions. I captured this sweet moment between the two at the local zoo. The concept is to be a bit dream like as if we have caught them daydreaming of life in the wild. I intentionally left the foreground simple to show them as if they are in a wide open space, but I wonder now if it needs something in the lower left corner? Open to any suggestions.
