Jillian, this has it all in a painting, depth with the overlapping figures, a beautiful composition! The horses are well done, the poses of the figures exceptional. I love the detail of the harness on the horse!
Ah, yes, the infamous dripping water brush...I also work in watercolor, I also work in miniature...NOW I am so very very careful to make sure my ferrule does not have eveb a little bitty bit of water just waiting to drip off. For my finest details, I use a Cotman Sceptre Gold...it holds barely ANY water and not so much paint, but using a miniature 5/0 sable brush round or a rigger, just plain will NOT work for me when I need to paint a CLEAN
fine line (the sable reservoir just holds way too much water, even when dabbed on a paper towel)...The fact that you actually painted a detailed face (and painted it WELL!) is an extraordinary feat for anyone, most especially a watercolorist!
