Totally new to this totally cool place.
Wow, just found this place today when I was looking for info on how to ship paintings. I can't wait to check it all out! Mediums I work in include...pretty much everything but oil painting. I have the most fun doing acrylic abstracts, followed by abstract watercolors, followed by pen and ink drawing. I'm also learning to play in mixed media, which just wasn't around when I was in school so is like...breaking all the rules for me! My paintings are a way of capturing the energy of the moment through movement, shape, and color. My drawings/sketches are a way of appreciating the world, ala Danny Gregory. I am here to meet creative people, see tons of art, and learn more about how to make the most of every art medium. I'm a newly-returned artist after about 20 years away from it due to one year of art school killing the muse completely. (I switched to psychology.) I started making art again a few months ago after seeing some fantastic, superfast mixed media sketch/painting/drawings done on the backs of envelopes and upside down book pages. It just opened this DOOR for me, revealing a whole new attitude about art. No more rules for me! This is a time of rampant experimentation and exploration for me, of mediums, techniques, and the importance and meaning of art in my life. As for the latter, I have realized that if I'm not making art of some kind, I'm not fully alive.
