Re: Madelaine 1/20

These last few have been terrific, Mary! Using black is certainly fine by me, sometimes nothing else is going to get you where you want to be with your values in a painting.

Your little trees are lovely in #18. And your Franz Marc Madelaine made me laugh - terrific palette, bold and fun.

You're almost done!

Great paintings, both of them! That Franz Marc is so cool!

Re: Madelaine 1/20

Thank you Terri and Christel! It is wonderful to stroll through the earlier artists' works and both admire and wonder how he/she developed their new (at the time) works.

#20...End of the road...

I wanted part of our local landscape and our road, but the angle was giving me fits. Lots of rubbing out of white pastel lines! Then I actually noticed the lid on my older set of Caran D'Ache Neopastels, which was a wonderful fit.

Lots of learning in this project of 20! Thank you, OP members for helping me actually complete 20!

Re: Madelaine 1/20

You finished! I like your "End of the road," it definitely suits the meaning of this final painting. Now Madelaine can take a nap!

Well done project, Mary!

Well done! Lovely end of the road! What will your next 20's theme be?

Re: Madelaine 1/20

Thank you, Terri! Madelaine loves naps, preferably on a hot sunny day.

Thank you, Christel! Next 20? You're funny!

Hmmm...now, however, you have me thinking. Always a painful process.

Re: Madelaine 1/20

Make it easy on yourself and rather choose a theme like portraits, or flowers, or trees, or whatever...

Re: Madelaine 1/20

Sarah! Wow! Thank you!

It is wonderful to see them from a bird's eye view like this, and it was very kind of you to take the time to put it together! A different perspective to study.

This project of 20 is a great practical exercise. I learned more about applying oil pastels, solving problems, improving focus, and had fun in the process. I used up some paper - Canson and Fabriano (6 x 9 roughly) but did not come close to using up the ops. It is surprising how far an oil pastel stick can actually go!

Plenty left for another series. Thank you for the suggestion, Christel!
A theme sounds right at this time.

Many thanks!

Re: Madelaine 1/20

Yay, Mary, congrats on pulling off your 20 project!
Thanks for composing them all together, Sarah - it's so nice to look at! The latest 3 are my faves along with the 2nd winter themed Madelaine.

It has been an inspiring project, Mary, and fun to follow!

Re: Madelaine 1/20

Wow!! Great job, Sarah, you've put them together and make them look like a quilt. A beautiful quilt, at that.

It's wonderful seeing them all together like this. I hope you're proud of these, Mary, you did a great job!

Re: Madelaine 1/20

Thank you, Terri, and you are right - Sarah's grouping does look like a quilt!

That would be cute and warm...with no loose animal hair!
