I find the bright white area keeps drawing my eye away from the cat. Maybe lowering the contrast might help?

(In ye olde days, I would have suggested burning that area in...)

The expression on the cat's face almost makes it look animated, what a great capture. However, I have to agree with Rich, the bright area is distracting.
