"Old Sailor USN"...one of my first tries

8" x 10" on an old piece of Canson Studio Grattage "scraper board" as they called it. Did it from an old photo. One of my very first attempts at scratchboard. I should do it over again to see if I've learned anything since I did this in the 1990s!

It would be interesting to see the change from then to now. I vote for doing it again!

That is an historical piece in the archives of scratchboard art and well done given the foundation.

Thanks for the comments folks!
Actually I think I did it in the early 2000s not the early to mid 1990s!
Sue: I might try it again if I can locate that old photo! It would make an interesting project!

Yes, trying this over again on an Ampersand board and after years more of practice woul be an interesting experiment. I like the style of this old one, though. It looks kind of like a wood or linoleum print.

A few of my scratchboards turn out that way. I will be doing the new version of this one on an Ampersand board. It's my favorite surface these days for scratch!!

Thanks Patrick! I appreciate the comment!
It's from an old photo of my Dad. Hope to start another one based on the photo. It might be interesting to see a more current version.
