Re: The Spotlight - February 2018 - Luminosity

Dea I love the boats! To me this scene looks like early morning when the water is completely still with maybe a touch of mist rising from it. Great atmosphere.

Going through my recent work trying to decide what to frame I came across this one which, to me, summarises what luminosity means to me. I'm not so good these days at working from other's references. This is from my own taken from the harbour on Thirassia, Santorini (A unique volcanic Greek Island). Among all the Greek fishing boats this one stood out and really glowed in the sunlight. I tried to capture that in my rendition of it. It's called "Pride and Joy" because it struck me that it was indeed someone's pride and joy!

Ruth, Lovely painting! It looks like you have multiple similar valued colors in may spots of this painting: It looks like the water is made up of 2 or 3 blues plus the pink. The cabin of the boat looks like it has a light blue mixed in with the pink. Great example of luminosity!

Thank you all for your kind comments to my rider.

Jay there are nice colors and a fresh atmosphere in your painting.

Deanna, very interesting composition and a beautiful light at your water.

Ruthie excellent luminosity at your boat, especially in the cabin.
You really nailed it.
