Re: What are you Working on Today?

Thank you Ian.

Well thanks pa-paw, but I'm sure that nothing I can do is beyond your abilities.

Thanks, but I am not blessed with your obvious ability to remain focused on a project for an extended period of time. If I might ask, what flavors of greens did you work with on this painting? Thanks.

Oh gosh, I think sap green, chrome green deep, Thalo yellow green and yellow citron, which is a beautiful yellow green, or maybe it would best be described as greenish yellow. Those are what I used but none alone, mostly mixed.

Re: What are you Working on Today?

Thanks for your color descriptions. Other than Sap Green I’ll not have the equivalent of the other shades in my tackle box. I usually do not stray from the basic greens, but try and mix other greens from the standard blues and yellows. Someone is always coming out with new designer shades, so I might yet find like shades in one of the watercolor brands. Thanks so much again for answering my reach-out.

Re: What are you Working on Today?

Pa-paw, I'm sure you could mix any green from various blues and yellows. I would start with the yellow and add tiny bits of blue until you reach the shades you want. I also like green made with yellow and black.

Re: What are you Working on Today?

Just sitting down to get started. Catching up on a few art things and backing up reference photos.

I think I am going to get back into some charcoal landscape drawing, and possibly a little pastel work.

Re: What are you Working on Today?

Hi, I don't think I've ever posted here, can I join you for a bit?
I've had an idea for a while, and have a few preliminary drafts (scribbles, really) done. As I read a challenge in another forum, I thought I'd use their challenge to take my idea a bit further. I've been doing other art projects, but this fits with a few areas I'm working on now so I'm combining them for this piece. And I'm learning a few things.

Re: What are you Working on Today?

I’ve had some issues and frustrations with my watercolor painting of late, so have been spending my time capturing the locals with the camera.

Para trabajar cómodamente lo mejor es un calzado que no pese como las chanclas para hombre.

I don't know where this watercolor will be going yet, but it's fun so far....

Re: What are you Working on Today?

I'm going to a small social watercolor painting group today. Everybody does their own thing. I went last week, one of 6. One woman seems to be very knowledgeable, I hope to learn just via listening. I know very little about WC. I'm taking 140lb paper. I have no idea what I will do...

Re: What are you Working on Today?

You can always bring in a photo and only use it as a loose reference. You don't have to copy it. You can "interpret" it however you'd like. At this stage I think it's important to play, experiment, and watch what the paint does with different amounts of water on the brush and on the paper, etc. Have fun with it and don't worry about making anything "correct" or "right," because there's no such thing. Especially when learning.

I obviously care little about the subject, or rather, I'm not a realist. I care more about applying various techniques. I have fun with it. It's probably my favorite media to work in.
