Untitled Landscape - Farm Scene

This painting was inspired by a watercolor I saw a few years back entitled, The Streamlet By The Wayside by D.F. Hasbrouck ( 1859 -1917 ) -

Painting: Oil on canvas glued to hardboard, 12 x 16; Palette: Yellow Ochre, Indian Red, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Terre Verte, Ultramarine Blue and Cremnitz -

Comments and suggestions always welcome -

Thanks for viewing - Hud

I agree - the colors of this are cozy and inviting. Makes me want to be able to hike into the scene. I also like the soft textures throughout, the grasses, the leaves, the tree bark. Very nicely done!

Nice,
Light direction?..maybe some nice blued shadows under the trees and around the shadowed side of the buildings would set up a nice complimentary effect and give a bit more contrast.

JMW: Thanks for your input and thoughts ... much appreciated -

Over the course of several days, as I was painting, I kept reminding myself ... "think about the light Hud!" - Well I guess I forgot ... will go back and pull it together, along with your correct idea of some "blue shadows" -

Again, thank you -

Hud

HUD,
Great depth! Soft back ground, more detail and brushwork in the foreground. Very nice painting!

It looks like the gate is closed. If it is, having it open allows the viewer's eyes to enter the painting.

Keep up the great work!
Donald

This is a beautiful painting - I don't think you should change anything. It has a very peaceful and serene quality to it that really appeals to me
