A corner near my home, myriad complex of signs, poles, wires and trees.
A real challenge, not to mention the stonework.
Oil with a wee bit of graphite underdrawing sealed with Gac100 on board.Graphite seems to give that dirty (beautiful) snow color and road grime.
EDIT: photo looks a bit out of focus, or is it my dirty glasses?Website: www.artderek.com

Nice work!Oh yeah, no need to clean your glasses. Just go to sleep for a couple of hours!
Mark.

On a tech forum thread, you weighed in about Ceramic White. Did you use any here?
January 7, 2019 at 2:04 pm #758214I could sure use the sleep Mark. Thanks my friend.
Hey Pin: oh yes. I used the combo of Ceramic white/liquin light gel to fuss with the stonework, the rocks, and road.
Thanks much.Derek

January 7, 2019 at 2:23 pm #758229I probably spend more time looking at your paintings when you post than any other. Actually, I have never seen anything like the work you do. There are so many elements in your painting but the whole thing is composed strategically, not just in placement of objects but also in their color. The small details in the water and the grass are most interesting.
January 7, 2019 at 3:31 pm #758208Very lovely Derek. Your composition is so much fun! The bricks leading us back, and the barn sandwiched between the two signs – just fab.
Both photos look sharp to me. Perhaps the first is a bit more saturated.

http://www.artallison.com/January 7, 2019 at 4:14 pm #758200I sorta’ feel “cold” just looking at that! You are a master of “lines”–signs, poles, wires, lines, tree branches, etc.
Good work!

You did forget all the potholes in the roads – oh sorry, you’re in NJ, and I’m from PA :).

Comments and Criticism always welcome!January 8, 2019 at 10:23 am #758226Brilliant !!!! When is your painting ever any thing less than ‘brilliant’
A cold winter scene ,yet makes one feel warm.
I love the greens .But then everything else is just as fabulous .
Of the two ,I can’t take my eyes off the second , smooth warm visual flow ..Someday it will end up in a museum.January 8, 2019 at 10:44 am #758209I remember snow! I like the way you make every day scenes look so special. Very good work, as usual.
