Augusta State vs. Winthrop
I've been looking at four different schools and art programs throughout South Carolina, and I originally applied to four schools and have narrowed it down to deciding between Augusta State University and Winthrop.
I want to get a BFA in painting, and both programs look excellent- Winthrop has a very broad, well-rounded program for the first two years, and a very intense but good-looking regimin for their art majors. Another plus is that they focus a lot on helping students in the art program with obtaining jobs and supporting yourself.
Augusta State is just across the river, I've taken classes there and I am familiar with the area, and, after taking a tour around the campus and art department, I am impressed by the quality of their program. The new art teacher that just started at my High School is a graduate of ASU, so it's nice that I can speak to someone who has been there about the program. I also like that they have double-track majors- if I get a BFA in painting, at ASU I would be getting a BFA in painting and drawing.
They both look like excellent schools, but I'm really quite conflicted about where to go.
Thanks for any input;
