Well I'll let you in on a secret Beth,

It takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile.

I'm basically lazy, so I choose to smile

J, you may not know it from my hunt posts but my favorite medium is actually color pencil and/or pastels. I know I can't draw that small in pastel so that's out and I will probably lean towards cp. I was really thinking of graphite, cp, ink, watercolor and combinations of them especially watercolor and cp depending on the image, possibly watercolor adn ink. Is that okay or should they alll be the same medium?

Bigs has me worrying...I have an addictive personality and Austrailia is a long way to go for meetings. (And don't worry about neat or clean as long as you have some Foster's. )

Re: Project Discussion: Vacation/Holiday Dreams

Joe it is your choice of mediums. You can do each one in a different medium if you want. There are really no rules except size (no larger than 5x7) and the main rule is to have fun. A lot of us use these to try out new things.

Don't worry about the Fosters. You won't need it. If you travel to Australia every week, you will spend most of your time in the plane and you can do your drinking there. hehehe

Jeanne can we start? Or do we wait until all 25 places are taken? What if that takes thirty whole days?

Shall we sally forth and corral a couple of artists more, my Captain?

Mithila are we anxious. lol

You can start any time. I will just wait to send the addresses for a bit so I won't have to update it. I am in another trade on Drawspace.com. We have 11 Disney related cards to do. Still don't have the address list yet but all my cards are done, in their plastic covers, in the envelopes just waiting for their addresses. I will mail them all out the same day.

More rookie questions....plastic covers? do you use a special kind of envelope? Your going to earn your "host" title answering all my nervous questions.

Hi Joe! Jeanne loves questions! Since you have 6 months to do this swap, just enjoy and do them as you have time, as long as you do all of them.

Some people put plastic covers, some just toss them in an envelope. I wrap mine in wax paper, to protect from rain, because I do watercolor, usually. (then I toss them in an envelope)

Re: Project Discussion: Vacation/Holiday Dreams

I'm trying to decide if I should do places I've been already...or places I'd like to go...so many choices!!!!! Maybe places I'd like to go since I did so many of the places I've already gone. I'm glad to see some familiar faces taking part, and Joe congratulations on joining us!

Re: Project Discussion: Vacation/Holiday Dreams

I've already told Jeanne my evil plan for subjects in this swap he he he, you'll all have to wait until they arrive at your place

Joe, I often use little ziplock bags to waterproof mine, and folk in the States often use baseball card protectors (we don't get them over here - never seen a cricket card in my life ). It helps put my mind at ease when I see how some envelopes have arrived at my place - one looked like a rottweiler had dragged it through a river - thank goodness it was in plastic inside!!

Oh, and here in Queensland XXXX (Fourex) is the homegrown brand of choice. Most Queenslanders say that Foster's is too weak, that's why they export it (I am not a beer drinker so I don't know one from the other). But I can tell you Queensland makes great rum .

Re: Project Discussion: Vacation/Holiday Dreams

Hi Joe, welcome to this project. Yes, I'd like to confirm about the plastic cover of some kind (a ziplog/sandwich bag will do) of your art. One time, my mail man just stucked the mail in the gate and it rained bad. Luckily that the card was inside the plastic so I can still treasure it.

I also saw one acrylic cards arrive to my house without plastic protection, and it is very hot here, that it melted the card into the paper envelope. So that artist's work was ruined.

I am looking forward to see your works. Ai

Re: Project Discussion: Vacation/Holiday Dreams

WHen I was a child we traveled all over the southwestern United states and over to England. My mother took a lot of slides in those days. I guess I will work on making them into trading cards.

Update- the insurance company is sending my mother home on Tues. I think she's happy about it. She can at least get good food.
