Re: Project Discussion: ATC/ACEO Artist's Choice!

Hello everyone!
I should be addressing my envelopes today, however, I need to do some more painting first. I have painted quite a few already as I am trying to paint in a loose style in watercolor and these are perfect to practice on.

Most of mine (so far) are critters. One floral did creep in there somehow, perhaps I will try more. I find flowers really hard to paint, very challenging.

BTW, here in the desert near Las Vegas it has been unseasonably cool...but it will be in the 90's by Friday! Soon it will be really hot as usual, dang.

Well, I seem to be running on Kootenay time which runs more slowly than in the rest of the world; 4 pieces 1/2 way done and paper is cut. Jeanne, went to your blog and saw the kitty and little bobblehead duckie. Great little pieces!

Re: Project Discussion: ATC/ACEO Artist's Choice!

I have everything ready to go, envelopes done etc. just been procrastinating with scanning the pics!

Now don't forget everyone who is new to these swaps - scan your pics - its embarrassing to say, but I for one [and I am sure almost everyone here at some stage] has forgotten to scan one or more of their pieces before they sealed those envelopes and/or posted them off!

But really it is an awful feeling when you realise.

You're faster than me, Nell! I've got my paper cut out but only have one piece about halfway done. Don't we have until sometime in June or July to finish though? I'm a horrible procrastinator, so maybe if I think I need to finish by the middle of May I'll get somewhere

Okay, new rule! James needs to be done by mid May.

We're all usually faster than the time allotment. I actually meant to make it the end of May but made a mistake when I put it up!

We're finally having some seasonal weather, still a bit chilly but I think tonight or tomorrow should be our last frost.

Re: Project Discussion: ATC/ACEO Artist's Choice!

I've become lazy scanning. Since I got a smart phone, I take photos with that and email them to the computer. I haven't even used my camera since then. Too handy and I always have my phone with me.

Re: Project Discussion: ATC/ACEO Artist's Choice!

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one going a bit slow. I have only finished 4 of mine. I am hoping to do the rest by the middle of May also. Kinda fun to move faster than I am used to going. I guess we all have our own pace.

Re: Project Discussion: ATC/ACEO Artist's Choice!

I have half painted. Going on a painting retreat this weekend, so should have them all done by the end of it. Looking forward to the diverse creativity

Re: Project Discussion: ATC/ACEO Artist's Choice!

Gosh, everyone is beating me hands down. Real life has intervened here and interrupted the flow some what. I have my inspiration in my camera but that is as far as it has got.

SWMBO has a trip to Southampton on Friday where she has her foot stimulator checked and adjusted. It'll be an over night stay as it is an 11:00 appointment-and she doesn't do mornings.

Also awaiting final arrangements as elder brother died whilst we were in Wales on holiday at 74 and 3/4. He would have been 75 this June. I've been trying to support his daughter who has been trying to do everything. But it has been at the end of a phone thing as they live so far from us.

I'm glad of the extra time on this one. It's my first and I think I am going to need it.

Re: Project Discussion: ATC/ACEO Artist's Choice!

I wanted to sneak in and say hi. I enjoyed participating in the Christmas Card exchange and was happy to hear I made the cut for this.

I am on a bird kick lately so there will likely be more than a few of those.

This is my first attempt at true ATC sized art. It offers a great opportunity for experimentation and the size isn't so daunting! I also am loving that I can bounce around. I am doing most in watercolor...but waiting for the wet in wet to dry is challenging. Now I can bounce to the next one. With our warm sunny days... I put them on the window sill and the first is dry by the time I've gotten down the row.

I put a background wash on about 5 today and started detailing one. I have finished two already. Hope to eek out 2 more before the weekend is over.

This is Zeus, Virginia's yellow lab. I used a photo she had on her Facebook page. This was done with colored pencils and pens.
