Here's a commission I'm workin on, its giving me a bit of a hard time, I just can make myself interested in the drawing....It looks very boring to me, the reference photo is not very good, and I'm at a loss on howto make the drawing more appealing as a whole...So any suggestions will be appreciated.
The right hand girls left eye is giving me a hard time lol Ive erased and redrawn it numerous times...

Thanks for lookin!

Re: Young Friends

Hi Mandy, you are doing very well! It might help us to comment more constructively if you were to post the reference photo though....

Re: Young Friends

Well...I can see you are getting there with the darks...but go darker with the girl on our left! Not the skin...the eyes and brows...however the inner brows are a bit too solid and start a tad further back, The girl on the right...the brows are closer and a slightly different line on the photo...I don't mean closer together...I mean the distance between eye and brow
Otherwise a fine job! Don't forget the girl on the right has a lot of darks in her hair...and the opposite for the girl on the right. Pump up the contrast a lettle more.... It's a good exercise to see the photo and ref close together, half-close your eyes and look at the tones only!

Great likenesses too!

Re: Young Friends

Mandy- the likeness is there and you're doing a Really Good Job! Looks like you got some good advice from Dee. I think "pushing the darks" is one of the hardest things to consistently do.
