Do you charge for mileage?

If a client is local, no big deal- but if you have to drive say, two or more hours to do their mural, do you charge for mileage? 35 cents a mile? Plus the hourly rate (that is what I do) Plus the cost of paints.

Re: Do you charge for mileage?

I usually charge my hourly rate for anything over 35 miles from my home base. I don't charge per mile, but that may change soon due to gas prices...

Re: Do you charge for mileage?

Yeah I figure in the price for my travel time, gas, and all the paints, and materials needed for that job. I don't break it up, I just say it includes____. Maybe there is a better way, but I'm a newbie and this is working for me right now. In fact I have my first out of town mural next week. I'm only driving about an hour each way though. I factored this all into the price quote.

Re: Do you charge for mileage?

Hi Shelly
I just posted here earlier but I don't see it. I went to you site...your work is absoluetly beautiful. I was asked to do a wall mural...I am hesitant about it. Perspective etc from doing tile murals right in front of me...I think I would need brushes with 10 ft handles so I could stand back to see work.
I also wanted to ask you what type of paint you use?
Thanks Talk soon
Bill
