Re: "Twilight" Work-In-Progress.....
Thanks so much, Bart! I really appreciate that!
Just working on the hair, darkening some distracting areas as well as working on the shoulder. More later...

Re: "Twilight" Work-In-Progress.....
This pretty much it... I fear any other progress scans would show such little visible change so this will be the last before matting and framing.
Thanks!

Re: "Twilight" Work-In-Progress.....
Paul you did such a great job in rendering the little fly away hairs in the light. Also what stands out to me, is the lips, they show the wax shine from the lipstick. Very detailed and exact contrast of values makes this 3 dimensional sensational.

Thanks so much, Sults! The lips were fun to render with their glossy sheen.

Hi Paul,
I was lurking on this one and enjoyed seeing it progress. You have another winner! I really like your work... the mood you create is exceptional.
Well done!!!

Paul, I think you do such beautiful work - this is just exceptional. Thanks for the WIP.
I know just what time of day is depicted in this portrait, you've captured the lighting so well.
Beautiful.

Paul, aside from the realistic look which is great, I really favor your sense of composition and cropping! Your work really shines there and the mood you set with the expression and title you choose is perfect.

Re: "Twilight" Work-In-Progress.....
Dave- I really appreciate your kind comments. I strive to create "moods" in my pieces, thanks for noticing.
Paula- Thanks so much, Paula. I'm glad the dusk-sunlight effect worked to some degree.
Stoy- Thank you very much! I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I really like wide aspect ratios as a way to create a little drama in the drawing.

Re: "Twilight" Work-In-Progress.....
Um...wow, Paul....in reading through your wip here, I am suddenly reminded as to why people strive for perfection in their work, you certainly have achieved that here. The deep black background, her hair, the cropping, the tones & highlights all come together to make your eye travel around her face more than a few times. The ref pic you chose was well thought out, as is your rendering of it. All of this is done using just a 2B and HB mechanical and very little blending? Superb.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your wip, you make me want to do better in my own work. Bravo & thank you for sharing.

Re: "Twilight" Work-In-Progress.....
Thanks so much Becca! I'm really glad you liked it and that I could offer even a little inspiration. My drawings are definitely not "perfection" but I'm satisfied knowing that, at this point in my artistic journey, I took my time and put everything I could into the piece...Which is really all we can ask of ourselves, I believe. Thanks so much, you're very thoughtful!
