Re: "Twilight" Work-In-Progress.....

Thanks so much Tanya and Bill!!!

Here's an update: Still laying down the base values. It may appear in a somewhat "almost completed" state but I assure you it'll be a while before I consider it done. I have a lot of fine tuning and refining to do...

Oh, this is breathtaking!

I'm excited to see you take this to the finish because it does look like a beautiful, finished work to me. I'm curious to see how much more you feel it needs.

There are many areas that need attention, (pretty much everything), which is one reason I really slowed down my process. That way, I can do a little here and there and then force myself to leave it until the next day. I could easily stay up all night drawing and finish huge chunks but I may regret it if I see problem areas that are beyond fixing due to the finished state. A fresh perspective each day is safer for me.
And thank you for the thoughtful comment!

Paul

Still going...Just started adding more values to the shoulder area, it won't be so stark against the background once it's been layered a bit more...
More tomorrow.

Re: "Twilight" Work-In-Progress.....

Charles- Thanks so much for the thoughtful response! I went to your website and I love your work! Incredible attention to details!

Kevin- Thanks for the compliment and for checking out my website!

Belinda- Thank you, and I'm glad you liked the 'work-in-progress'.

Soren- Thanks so much! I don't know if it looks like a photograph but patience is the main ingredient!

Tim-Thank you for the kind words. The blacks do take time using a 0.5mm 2B lead.

I'll post more progress later tonight or tomorrow.

Paul

Re: "Twilight" Work-In-Progress.....

I've been patiently working on the face today, bringing out the skin-textures, especially on the right side of her face (her right). Also, I've lifted graphite off of areas that needed highlighting. I want that last-ray-of-sunlight-through-the-window sort of look. Dim and soft, yet harsh and bright in some areas.

More progress tomorrow.

Paul

Sigh.....

This is such a joy to watch.

I see now, what you were talking about, regarding how much more work you wanted to put into this.

Just beautiful.
