How much paint needed for a large mural

I'm a newcomer to this forum, but have been active in posting to the 'Pricing' thread lately and have received great advice regarding how much to charge for my first "for profit" mural. Although I've done several murals in my home and for friends, all but one have been relatively modest in size. My first commission, however, covers 45 sq. ft. to paint a Tuscan landscape scene.

My questions relate to the amount of various paints I'll need---

I can guestimate a couple colors where I'll probably buy a quart of eggshell acrylic latex (deep sky blue and meadow green) to lay down a base of color before glazing and scumbling, but don't have a handle on how large a quantity of primary and special colors I'll need to complete the mural-- Should I assemble a supply of tubes, 2 oz. jars, 4 oz. jars, 8 oz. jars ... more? Also, do you experienced painters prefer high viscosity (thick) acrylics or the creamy medium viscosity 'jar' paints ... and why one or the other?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi, can't help you, but wanted to thank you for asking this, because I was just about to post the same question :-)

Greetings from one mural newbie to another!
