Wip Arched Window
This is a barter with a friend who owns a chiropractic business. This is in her restroom. And this is the second days result.
They wanted a little bit whimsical but not all the way like some of my work I do in that style.
I still need to add more to the trees as they are sorta blocked in without the details of high and low colors and shadows of course...they wanted a high desert/springtime/meadowy look.
I also need to make the window frame but will just work on it at my own pace as it's part of a year long barter. (after all the ceiling work I do, it's awesome feeling "adjusted" and back in alignment!!!)
water is difficult for me....any suggestions to make it work better?

Re: Wip Arched Window
Becky, this looks really good,I love all the flowers scattered about. Water is hard for me too the only suggestion I would have would be to make the water darker farthest away and lighter close up for the perspective of it. And also narrower towards the back! I hope you know what I ean because these words sound kinda funny!!!!! Carol

Re: Wip Arched Window
I agree, Ruth, and maybe it should meander a bit more. I thought it was a path until I read the posts
I like trades-good for you!!

Re: Wip Arched Window
Bec, I agree about meandering and also tapering more narrow as it goes away from you. Also, I think it would help lay the water down flat if you lay in your water colors horizontally and add a few lighter horizontal streaks, maybe sky color to give it movement. The lines look a little vertical right now. But I love it anyway, because I like the "Bectorish" style you have.

Re: Wip Arched Window
Carol and Jeanette, thank you, as always! I will try with some horizontal strokes. Behind the trees the creek was narrow...and I covered it all up. Dumb! It was darker too. EEK
Ruth, mine is a little creek but those photos are spectacular!! Maybe I can add more rocks though. Thanks!
I need a water class.

Re: Wip Arched Window
Don't do that! It wouldn't take much to make it look more watery.
May I post a photoshopped revision?

Re: Wip Arched Window
Okay, this is just a rough quickie. To me, it looks like the stream is running downhill, and some rocks would give it more action, like a mini-waterfall.

Be careful what you ask for! I've been known to take people up on invitations like that

Re: Wip Arched Window
Such a good example Ruth provided. I knew it looked vertical, but I never thought about a waterfall. Ruth knows her water - it's in a lot of her murals.
Becky, if she does come to live with ya, work out a class for us to attend. I think I remember that you moved to a nice bigger place a few months ago?

Re: Wip Arched Window
Ruth! I will print and use to fix the problem...it will still have the semi whimsical look but I can get more curves and so forth in...thank you!
Jeanette, my house is funny...it's 1800 sq feet but most is upstairs!!! It feels like a cottage.
