Re: Weeders' Chatroom Dec 25, 2017 and year 2018

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE. I too am trying to paint more, not that I need more paintings, but I find as I age I have more aches and pains and painting keeps it away, because when I am painting my mind is never anywhere else, so I will do it for my health. Anyone else find this to be true?

Mary... yes I agree. Getting into a drawing or painting is very much like meditation for me. aches and pains do go away and time flies by.

Maureen... you are welcome to save Lytta for a future WDE. i have a higher resolution pic. if you want it, just let me know.

Thank Mike

Mary - for me too, once started on drawing or painting, all else goes out the window!
I can't listen to music when painting either - got to be one or the other!

ME TOO!!
I love it when I get into that zone and sometimes magic happens and I couldn't tell you how and haven't a hope of duplicating it. It has not happened for such a long time. I guess I have to get my head straight and actually start painting regularly again. Oh and I do it to music, one thing seems to trigger the other for me.
HOPE THE NEW YEAR IS GOOD TO YOU ALL AND CREATIVITY ABOUNDS.

The Zone...yes.... Mary I have severe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, but Im getting ready to go join my group on the beach (wind and 50% chance of rain. Because when Im in the Zone, I wont notice that my body is reacting to this weird weather pattern. Only when I start driving back home will I feel it.

A welcome respite.

And so far this year Ive painted every day except one.

Re: Weeders' Chatroom Dec 25, 2017 and year 2018

My last week in the cold, sun and sand in 5 days! I love that creative zone as well, and music takes me there. I draw every day, sometimes I paint. Sometimes I make journals. When I retired I decided my mantra would be
Everyday 1. Meditate or take some personal quiet time
2. Do something physical everyday (walk, run, excersise)
3. Do something creative
Then everything else falls into place.
So far it has been working

Hi everybody! Sorry it has been so long since I've been by here. I'm doing okay, but it's been nearly 7 months since my hubby died and I'm still not painting. Just spent a little time in the RIL and I found one of Li's photos that may help me to get my muse back. Cross your fingers.

Lovely to 'see' you again Beth and do hope something will help loosen that 'frozen' feeling...... I'm only just getting back to posting regular WDEs but they do help .... the works and especially the other members here!

Re: Weeders' Chatroom Dec 25, 2017 and year 2018

Hugs and welcome back to the fold Maureen and Beth, so nice to have your creative energy again.

So back from the sun a couple weeks ago right back to -30 temps the first week and the last week a two day storm that dumped more snow in 2 days than we had all winter. (30 cm) It took me a couple days to go outside when I got back from Mexico, but it is all back to normal for me, lots of snow now, but the sun is shining, and spring is coming soon. Have just been putting since I got back, but starting some projects this weekend. I am out at my friends acreage looking after dogs and alpacas, so usually paint when I am there. Taking some projects, to wile away the time. Also I am painting a chair for a fundraiser in July, all chairs will be auctioned and funds donated to Grandmothers4grandmothers. I plan on painting a Chakra chair (been inspired by doing chakra yoga )

Keep creativity alive

hey all!

Bonnie.. love that mantra! i should try it too. must be a shock to come back to all this snow.

Beth... great to see you back in the fold! i do hope those brushes find you again!

not much new here. having fun on weekends playing with my granddaughter. five months old already. where does time go?

as i write this, i am watching from my wheelchair through the window my wife shovelling snow off the sidewalk, and it occurred to me how much i miss doing that. what is the matter with me?

Re: Weeders' Chatroom Dec 25, 2017 and year 2018

Hi Mike - the snow? - you would if you could! Sometimes we just have to accept our limitations - my late husband would have been sympathising with you and feeling equally frustrated by events!

I daresay your family - like us - would rather have you any way they can! - and anyway, you're doing the babysitting, a very necessary job!

Snow again here this weekend, and bitterly cold. My stepson and d-in-l had to go back home across the Pennines on Saturday and the journey took 4.5 hours instead of the normal 2.45 ...... blizzards are not funny across those high moors
Been to my sister's for lunch to celebrate her oldest son's 37th birthday - delicious meal ..... driving back before dark and fortunately no extra snow, so warm and cosy now! Tired of winter .... roll on Spring this week!

Re: Weeders' Chatroom - pop in and relax a while!

I am so ready for spring, even just to run outside, have been using the treadmill all winter, my running bud and I went out to a hike today to check out the paths, got back without incident (still icy in spots) and when she went to get to her car, she slipped and sprained her ankle, so 2 weeks on crutches for her now, sure glad she did not break anything. This is why I have been using the treadmill.

And will it ever warm up?? I keep buying bulbs and seeds just WILLING spring to come.

Here is my finished chair (for the art auction in July)
