Concealing Emotion

Hey all,

Been a while. Happy to drop in again! This piece is part of a collaborative project with my buddies in the GOOPof7. We're riffing on the concept of "code".
Interested in your honest responses. Don't worry, I am expecting a variety!

It is 12"H x 36"W x 4"D (approximate depth). Mixed media (acrylic media, wood, glass, epoxy resin, sterling silver, pewter, copper) on cradled birch panel.

Detail shots:

Very interesting. A common thread. Diverse designs united. Synergy.

Love how each area flows into the next and yet keeps its own individuality. I like how John puts it "diverse designs united"

Re: Concealing Emotion

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the positive and thoughtful feedback! Glad it reads both as a single piece and as four individual components.

I wasn't clear enough about it though. This is one of two works I've personally done for the project so far. When we put together an exhibit, I'll post a picture of the project as a whole . Hopefully it will be both visually and conceptually cohesive. We'll see...

Re: Concealing Emotion

Very interesting piece, Rick. The detail is amazing.

Thinking about your code theme, this has a physical chemistry vibe for me. I see electron orbitals in the 2nd section and a combination of covalent bonds and van der Waals forces connecting the set of panels. The way you have divided up the yellows is perfect (IMHO).

Can't wait to see the entire GOOP project!

Re: Concealing Emotion

Thanks Bilateral, cool to hear the physical chemistry interpretation.
Thanks Laf, I'm looking forward to seeing the whole project too. We've created a small series for the proposal to the local art festival and a show that we have booked for late 2019. Now we have to get enough works completed to get the concept across. We'll be treating each painting as though it is a word within a series of sentences.
