Nygren Wetland Preserve

This is one of two that I'm doing for the Painting Competition this week in Rockford, IL. Started with sketches and color notes from life, then worked up larger in the studio from reference photos.

14" x 20" Oil on panel.

Comments welcome.

I really like the way you did the road or path since I have walked on so many just like it.

Very well painted; contrast and shadows work together with the linear perspective.

Re: Nygren Wetland Preserve

Great! You made a very difficult view - dead center linear perspective - work with left and right color and the off-center tree and clouds. The only criticism I have is the yellow-brown of the cloud. Otherwise, a great job!

Beautiful cloud work, but I think if you depicted the part of the cloud bank to the right a bit looser, it would be an improvement.
