A Lighthouse in Maine

In this painting I wanted a simple painting, without much detail - and, to paint loosely using clean colors. BTW - NO masking.

"Lighthouse in Maine" 11x15 Arches 140 lb. cold-press

Re: A Lighthouse in Maine

Very colorful. You could use deeper shadows with the strong sunlight. The underside of the porch roof and lighthouse lamp area would be in dark shadow. The sides of the house should have the same shadow color, with the windows in shadow as well. A few tweaks here and there will make it better.

Exceptional!! I love the exactness of the buildings, contrasted against the looseness of the vegetation!! Brilliant!

Jan, you have the cleanest of colors. Always a treat.

Wow, that looks fantastic - great colors!
(The opposite of Ernst's attention to detail.)

Re: A Lighthouse in Maine

Thank you all. And, Rich, I do agree darker shadows would improve the painting.

A very nice watercolor painting. I like lighthouses for their great shapes and shadow potential.
