This is my first time trying this… I hope I did this right and didn’t miss anything! Here is my pencil drawing, its about 4″ x 6″. The first one is at 5min, the final sketch is at 30 min. I added some conte crayon because it needed “something”. :)

Nice! I like the addition of the Conte, that little bit of color livens it up beautifully. Good strong darks, good form, lovely textures, you’ve got something excellent here. Very lively and inspiring, since it’s tools for painting it does leave me itching to do something with my own brushes!

Thank you! I think I might like to do something like this with oil! :)

April, wow, love your sketch of the brushes and with addition of a little color it really shines! In oil it would be stunning!

The 5 minute version is terrific and the final version really gives it polish, well done.

Love both of these, especially the way you polished the second one with the conte! :)

I really like this and I agree the little bit of color only added to it.

Terrific sketches, and I like the addition of a bit of color on the final version.

Nicely done. The increased contrast and red highlight is an improvement. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Hi April, thanks for joining in! Really good lively 5-minute sketch, it has some good bits of detail. Love the finished piece, the contrasts in the background give the picture a lot of interest and the subtle hints of colour really bring the subject to life. :)
