Dianna, very nice castle and bluebird! I always make mine too detailed, so I like your simplicity.

Lovely bird, Kay!

Dianna, Amazing amount of detail in the castle! Beautiful bird as well too. Nice work on the branches.

Thanks!
I'm liking the Miniature Challenge, small size, small time commitments.
Now, next month I should try a different medium.

I'm trying to venture out more this year, too, and use some of the forgotten art supplies languishing in the studio. Next up is acrylic inks. I've several bottles of the FW ones and only used I think once.

Carew Castle, Acrylic on prepared paper, mounted on dry cat food box card. Double ATC size (5x3.5").

Not as sharp as it could be, but difficult to get good light this time of year, also not sure the colour balance is quite right, but is better than the original

Re: January 2018, Challenge and chat!

That's a great idea. Sorry I haven't been around much, my Mom had to have her leg amputated (she had a massive infection and diabetes). She seems to be holding her own which is a relief.

I did the castle first on one of those 2x2 inch canvas squares, acrylics. I need to add some more detail I think.

Then I was reading a book on color theory so I tried something different, this one is 3x3 inches, acrylics.

I did the river too, but just as I was finishing for some reason I used the acrylic paint (the violet streaks) instead of watercolor and messed it up! I was liking how the watercolor colors were mingling so a bit annoyed with myself, It's okay though, I was a bit overtired when I did that.

This is about 4 x 5 inches, watercolor.
