A Penguin and His Teddy Fish

Trying my hand at a new, to me, art form, needle felting. No fiber arts forum here, so figured sculpture would do. I imagine someone will let me know if it's not the right place.

Not realistic, but actually looks like the bird. A little bit. Maybe 😜. Posting just to show off an early work and, if anyone is interested, mildly critiquing the work (not the artist, please&#128513

100% wool. Batting core and roving surface. Used 36 and 38 gauge felting needles that are very sharp and, I found out, easily penetrate finger tips.

4" tall and free standing. Made from scratch - not a kit and no pattern. Used a lot of what I've learned here on WC to figure it out.

There is a Fiber Arts forum, so I'll move this there. Use the rolling forum list bottom right to find forums.

Mike, welcome to fiber arts forum.

Your penguin is darling. Wouldn't know that's your first attempt. Would love to see more work from you.

Thanks on both counts.

And how did I miss Fiber Arts forum after looking so diligently for one? 😜

He's cute! I would not have thought this was your first felted piece.

Very cute. I admire people who can do animals.

That's really sweet Mike. I love the idea of a penguin having a teddy fish.
