    Hi there,

Sharing this little fella. I’m not sure what kind of bird he is…but he is a romantic, I’d say. :) I made him last year and just haven’t gotten around to posting him until now. I call him Gatsby because of the flashy, Art Deco-esque pair of earrings I used for the wings. He’s made with fencing and paddle wire, his wings are earrings, and his tail is a thin, metal feather pendant. A black beaded band with a flashy red rose hangs about his neck. The head crest is made with a bobby pin with some black beads. His beak is two embellishments in one – the first was a silver spike pendant which I slid into a black metal spiral earring. He measures 6.5 inches long by 4.25 inches tall by 3.25 inches wide.

C&C welcome. Hope you like him. :) Thanks for looking!

He resembles some of the shorebirds we have on the coast of Florida – very nic!

Thank you, Richard. I can see what you mean about him looking like a coastal shorebird. :)

Ellen, your comment made me laugh. Indeed, it would look a bit like a drill bit, wouldn’t it? :) Thanks for your comments!

Hud, that is so kind of you. Thank you for your nice comments. That means a lot to me.

Thank you, Jo! :D He is pretty dapper, isn’t he? ;)

Thanks very much, Kay! I really appreciate it.

It always amazes me how you breathe so much life and character into your sculptures. I imagine that you have a very vivid imagination when you are creating – filling your minds eye with the life and adventures of each, almost a story book scene as you create. The Wonderful and Fantastic Gatsby is indeed a romantic looking fellah – I would love to know more about him. I know you write, and am wondering, have you ever though of doing a story book on your creations? They all have such an old school charm to them, and though I’m oldish (and never mind what oldish means!), appeal to the child in me.

You are so gifted at what you do – to me, it’s simply magical! :)

CaliAnn, your comments are just so incredibly kind. Thank you so much! I do sometimes have little background ideas or stories to go with my sculptures…it can help determine the found objects I end up using, or the pose. Some don’t have much backstory…they just sort of emerge in their own ways with their own looks. A storybook based on sculptures is a great idea! Something to consider pursuing, perhaps. Thanks again. I am so flattered. :)
